SEED OF ABRAHAM
In your seed all the nations
of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice. Genesis
22:18
God told Abraham to offer his son
Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham made all of the preparations. At the last
moment, God stopped Abraham. Immediately following this event, God told
Abraham that in his seed all the nations of the earth will be blessed.
Paul refers to this promise in Galatians 3:16 with the words:
Now to Abraham and his Seed
were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but
as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.
In Jesus, all the nations of the
earth will be blessed. Believers can rejoice that we are seeing this take
place in our day. The Gospel of Jesus is successfully moving into all
nations.
In Galatians 3:29 Paul enlarges on the concept of the seed of Abraham with
the words, “And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs
according to the promise.”
Paul prefaced his statement about believers being the seed of Abraham with,
“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There
is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither
male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:27-28).
All believers are one with Christ and one with each other. In Christ, the
seed of Abraham, all nations will be blessed. All believers, the seed of
Abraham, who experience their oneness with Christ join Him in bringing
blessings to the nations of the earth. They have an undying spirit of
missions.
