GOD STOPPED TAKING IT AWAY
“You looked for much, but
indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away.
Why?” says the Lord of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins,
while every one of you runs to his own house”. Haggai 1:9
When Haggai, the prophet, began his
ministry of prophecy, conditions in Israel were in a miserable state. Haggai
1:4-6 says:
“Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this
temple to lie in ruins? “Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts:
“Consider your ways! You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but
do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe
yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put
into a bag with holes.”
The Israelites who had returned from exile in Babylon became comfortable in
their new circumstances and forgot about God’s temple. God blew away all of
their comfort and resources because of their neglect of the temple. Haggai
explained to them that God had blown away these things because they had
neglected God’s temple. They repented and went to work.
Three months after the Israelites began work on the temple, God told them,
“From this day forward I will bless you.” Many of God’s children have
experienced material blessings from God when they became involved in His
work.
When a believer chooses to live out his oneness with Christ, he will become
involved in the work of the Kingdom and in the financial support of the
Kingdom. The Lord will supply our material needs.
